Common names: Diiu nigalo, Sani nigalo, Blue Bamboo.
Describtion from Australia: This popular bamboo is a very cold hardy plant that thrives in moist, sheltered, shady conditions. Will not stand full sun for long, and does not like wind, (especially hot dry winds) but in a sheltered shady spot grows well, into a 3-4 metre plant with masses of small drooping leaves. Can be trimmed for a good indoor bamboo plant. Easy to propagate and highly ornamental, but only easy to grow in suitable sites. This bamboo is a prolific grower that can go shabby in winter, losing leaves, but revives in spring with masses of new foliage again, before it shoots.
Describtion from Nepal: 4,5 m / 1,5 cm. Leaf sheat ligule up to more than 3 mm long.
Distribution: Nepal: western part, at 1800 - 2100 m altitude; A variable species, found in drier subtropical forest and also cultivated around farmland.Pakistan and India at 1200 - 2500 m altitude.
